  7.     While Al Gore, Mario Cuomo and other big-name Democrats
  8. continue to shy away from the presidential race, lesser-known
  9. hopefuls are trotting forward. Now seriously considering a run:
  10. Democratic Senator MAX BAUCUS of Montana. A plainspoken
  11. moderate, Baucus knows he is a longshot against Bush (who
  12. isn't?). But Baucus feels that winning the nomination would at
  13. least give him the chance to position himself for 1996.
